Guide to First Year

If you indicated your interest in PEY Co-op during the U of T Engineering application process, you are in the program and will receive confirmation in your letter of offer from the Faculty.

Once you begin in September, you can also verify your registration through your student account.

The theme of your first-year "Introduction to PEY Co-op" is exploration. This means understanding the objectives, benefits, structure, and requirements of being in the PEY Co-op Program.

Completion of “Introduction to PEY Co-op" in first year is the entry point to PEY Co-op and is required to proceed into the Preparatory Program in your second year. Through this experience, you will identify your strengths and skills, examine diverse industries and begin setting your own professional goals.

Your first-year programming titled “Introduction to PEY Co-op” will be available on Quercus, U of T’s learning management system. You’ll use Quercus for many of your other courses, so it will be seamless to move between your co-op programming and other academic work.

We will provide you with access to the “Introduction to PEY Co-op” in early September. The Engineering Career Centre will send you all the information you’ll need to get set up.

No specific preparation is required – just bring your enthusiasm and a willingness to learn!

Throughout your first year, you’ll need to spend approximately 6 to 10 hours to complete the "Introduction to PEY Co-op" programming in its entirety. You will have the option to take part in events and experiences that will further tailor your learning and development.

We designed the first-year experience within the PEY Co-op Program with flexibility in mind. We made it a priority to ensure that you could complete all first-year programming at your own pace, on your own time.

We include value-added activities, such as workshops and other career-related events, that will run at specific times. You may choose to register for the additional activities as your schedule allows.
